It has been many months since our last update. We are doing great! I (Joaquin) just wrapped up my classes. I had two 20 page papers due. Needless to say it was a blast writing them. I just got back from Denver where I was helping my bro and his familia move from Kansas City. I had a blast cruising through Kansas with him to Denver. Nachooooooooooooooooo. They have such a beutiful home in Denver and now my Hijado will be able to run around in a cool yard. They will be driving up to Vegas for the Holidays in a few days. We are all going to be together wich will be awsome. I hope it snows.

Meriah and I are planning our annual X-Mas Paaataaaayyy. It is going to be off the hizzoook like always. We figured, we got a carpet cleaner, we might as well use it.

Here are a few photos from our house. We have been working a lot on the yard. It is what keeps us sane these crazy days. We planted a little grass, our desert plants are a'blommin' and we built a raised garden bed. We have an aprocot, cherry and peach tree, tomatoes, chiles, radishes, peas, squash, gords and sunflowers. Not all in the same bed of course! We are enjoying our home with good food and even better company.

Good morning!! This is the first morning in a few weeks that I have ten minutes to write a little something. We (Albuquerque Community Schools Project) are about to present on our projects. I will present on the Santa Barbara/Maritneztown Learning Center with a special emphasis on the garden. Yesterday, I spoke about the New Mexico Civic Engagement. Next Wednesday, I will be speaking in Vancouver regarding The Chicano Mexicano Paradigm. Fun stuff. Meriah has been on the road for three weeks and after next weeks travel to Canada, I too will have 3 weeks under my belt. Maybe I will go to the doctor while I am up there!!!! Dad even let us watch him throw some pottery!!! It was cool to see the Artist Formerly Known as "Dad" in action. He even sent us home with some cool pieces (He charges alot for them now!!) Mom worked wonders with her art with numbers...she did our taxes!!! Thanks Mom!!! Love you guys.
We are heading to DC tomorrow. We are so excited to spend time with Los Griegos de DC. We will take lots of pictures. Following that we will be in Philidelphia. Then Joaquín will take off to Vancuvor, BC for another conference. What a month!!! Love, Mer

Here's a photo of the lovely ladies at the COOL Conference. They cam back with lots of energy and tons of great information. We had a blast. Thanks to Mom & Dad for host a few of us. We enjoyed the home cooking and hospitality. The girls are working on some awesome projects to address poverty, hunger and traditional agricultural sustainability. They are truly inspiring! Well, this is my first time posting on the blog...this is pretty cool! Joaquin finally gave me the password!
Well the campaign is going well. That is my second job. I am the campaign manager for Moises Gonzales for Bernalillo County Assessor. I know, crazy huh? He's buena gente from around the way and I am proud to be working with him. I'm also working with an awesome team of extremely talented people. Joaquin and I are blessed to have such a strong community.
Monday was the kick-off of the campaign and we had a great turn out, lots of compliments on the event and people noticed the strength in our young progressive team. A few people from the clicka have organized a "Nuestra Gente Caucus" within the party. They will be meeting this weekend in Española. We have a fundraiser coming up on the 11th at the Land Grant hall in Carnué. So we are rocking and rolling.
I also want to give a shot out to my homegirls at La Placita. I will miss you the next couple of weeks. I promise to bring you something back.
I am taking off now to Music City. I am attending a conference at Vandi with 4 young women from UNM. They are wonderful students, scholars and activists. We are attending the Campus Organizing and Outreach League (COOL) Conference and get to visit my mom & dad. I'm looking forward to this weekend. Gotta run I will let you know how it goes. Good afternoon to the world and our family. Meriah and I had a great weekend! We attended a retreat for the UNM Service Corps. This was the service organization that both Meriah and I were a part of. It is great to work with the next generation of Change Agents. The retreat was in Spanta Feo at a retreat center called Ghost Ranch. It was a nice setting and allowed for all of us to get out of Burque and work on the philosophical development of the Corps members. Much love to everyone. Joaquin

OK. I would just like to welcome the world to the newst and quite possible the coolest blog in the world!!! These are the adventures or misadventures of Meriah and Joaquin Griego. Have fun buckle your seat belts because it is going to be a ride. I may post a recent argument, perhaps a discussion on composting, or perhaps I may just run sucio at the mouth. Who knows. I have to get to Santa Fe. Today one of our youth sites has a House Joint Memorial before the Education Committee in Santa. We must go and represent. These youth are a group of young women from burque in an organization called Young Women United. They have identified the issue of teen pregnancy and the lack of sufficient and comprehensive education as a reason for the high pregnancy rate. Their memorial can be seen at
